Adam Scott has confirmed that Severance fans will not have to wait another three years for Season 3, reassuring viewers that the new instalment is coming “much sooner.” The actor and star of the Apple TV+ hit explained that the team behind the show is prioritizing quality while still aiming to significantly shorten the gap between seasons.

Speaking at the BAFTA TV Awards, where Severance was nominated for best International series, Scott confirmed a shortened waiting time for the next season of Severance.

“We’re always trying to shorten the amount of time between seasons, but it’s more important for it to be great than for it to be fast,” he told Deadline on the BAFTA red carpet. He acknowledged the challenge of balancing expectations with the creative process.

“We’re definitely planning on getting it out much sooner than the last round, which was three years, which is too long,” he added. The long wait between the first two seasons had drawn criticism from viewers. Despite that, Season 2 went on to become one of Apple TV+’s most-watched titles and earned significant awards attention.

Scott also confirmed that filming on Season 3 will begin “very soon,” though he avoided revealing any plot details. He noted that sharing more would risk spoiling the story. The upcoming season will be produced under a new structure following Apple’s reported deal with Fifth Season, reinforcing the show’s importance to the platform.

While the timeline is finally tightening, Scott’s deeper insight into the story may be even more intriguing for fans.

He explained that having “as much information as possible” helps guide his performance and maintain consistency in the character’s arc. It also confirms that the series is not being extended without purpose. A defined endpoint is in place, ensuring the story remains focused rather than overstaying its welcome.

Scott hinted that the ending may embrace ambiguity, drawing comparisons to how The Sopranos concluded. He suggested that leaving space for interpretation can make a story more impactful. With Season 3 still in development, though nearer than the last season that sense of mystery continues to build anticipation.
