Shankar has emphasized that the story will lean into unpredictability, moving away from comfort-food repetition and instead aiming for the kind of escalation that made the best video-game sequels feel like major evolutionary leaps.

"It's the difference between Batman Begins and The Dark Knight. That's the comp. Or Halo 1 and Halo 2, where in terms of just scale and scope - orders of magnitude bigger and larger," he explained to IGN in March 2026.
