The narrative follows two American backpackers seduced by sunlit rituals, then unsettled by discipline, silence, and power structures enforced without raised voices.

Set in Western Australia’s South West, Breakers becomes Netflix’s first original filmed there, a milestone with sand attached. With Antony Starr both starring and executive producing, according to Deadline, Pete Jackson’s script and Clerkenwell Films’ stewardship steer the series toward a June 2026 wrap.
