Britney Spears' presence still echoes throughout the American music scene. For the icon herself, however, she seems to want to restrict her voice to and from some of those scenes.
Music lovers in the US may have been chanting 'Baby One More Time', but Britney Spears is not. Taking to Instagram nine days into 2026, the 'Toxic' singer revealed her plans, as well as her aversion to the country she erupted from.
"I will never perform in the US again," Spears typed out in the caption of a picture of herself. The reasons were cited to be significantly sensitive, yet not clearly explained by the singer.
The picture in question is of Spears herself in a beige dress, sitting in front of her signature white Yamaha piano. The post was to declare it as a gift to likely her 19-year-old son, Jayden James Federline.
Spears' break-up with the US stages comes with a history of discomfort.
Britney Spears' beef with the US
The October 2018-ended 'Piece of Me' Tour is Britney Spears' latest major performance in Texas, US. Since then, her Las Vegas Residency, Dominations cancellation, has echoed the same sentiments Spears' Instagram post did.
Before the revelation, Spears had faced several instances of discomfort and repression in the industry, the impacts of which she is healing herself from.
Britney Spears is taking as many steps as she can to preserve peace. Whether in sharing her dancing on Instagram or putting up boundaries around her stages, she is turning every stone she can to reclaim.
