Billie Eilish has opened up about why performing without backup dancers simply feels more natural to her. While Eilish’s recent Coachella moment with Justin Bieber kept social media spiraling, the singer herself continues riding massive success with her 'Hit Me Hard and Soft tour', which has already crossed $213 million globally. Adding to the frenzy, Billie Eilish: Hit Me Hard and Soft – The Tour (Live in 3D) is officially hitting theatres on May 8, 2026.
Opening up about her stage choices recently to Pop Crave, Billie Eilish clarified that her decision to avoid backup dancers comes purely from personal comfort rather than criticism of other performers. While praising artists who embrace large-scale choreography and elaborate stage productions, Eilish explained that a stripped-back performance style simply feels more natural and authentic to her.
The singer also briefly touched on the pressures women face while making creative choices, before warmly thanking fans for embracing her artistic approach throughout the tour.
"It is more just my experience and need. Just for me, I don't like to perform like THAT, but I love it in other people. It's just different.” Eilish said.
Meanwhile, Eilish’s Hit Me Hard and Soft tour continues rewriting records globally, selling over 1.43 million tickets across its 106-show run. The massive success has officially turned it into the highest-grossing tour ever by an artist born in the 21st century, surpassing Olivia Rodrigo’s GUTS World Tour. Adding further to the phenomenon, the album itself has now crossed 10 billion Spotify streams, becoming the fastest album by a female artist to reach the milestone.
Meanwhile, the upcoming concert film has thrown fandoms right back into Eilish’s wild 'Hit Me Hard and Soft' era once again.
Billie Eilish’s concert film revives the tour chaos
Set to release on May 8, Billie Eilish: Hit Me Hard and Soft – The Tour (Live in 3D) is ready to pull fandoms straight back into one of Billie Eilish’s most defining tour eras yet. Filmed across four nights in July 2025 at Manchester’s Co-op Live arena, the concert movie was created alongside James Cameron using advanced 3D technology designed to throw audiences directly onto the stage beside Eilish herself. The film also features Finneas O'Connell and drummer Andrew Marshall, with Eilish and Cameron serving as co-directors for the ambitious project.
Meanwhile, the overall Hit Me Hard and Soft tour stormed across 106 shows globally, dominating major arenas from Madison Square Garden and The O2 to Sydney, Paris, Amsterdam, and Toronto. Early screenings have already described the film as a “sensory immersion,” while box office projections estimate a strong $6–$9 million opening weekend for the concert spectacle.
And while success has long remained inseparable from Billie Eilish’s name, it is perhaps her raw, deeply personal performance style that continues setting her apart from the crowd.
