With age comes many things, unease of all kinds, but also a longing for the stage. Billy Joel is nursing both these things, but his love for pianos and performance has overridden the pain.

Billy Joel, 76, still has a lot to prove to himself, and performing in discomfort might be one of them. Joel recently stepped up on the stage in Wellington, Florida, while his tribute band, Turnstiles, was performing, as per TMZ.

Despite his normal pressure hydrocephalus diagnosis revealed in early 2025, Joel performed almost perfectly. He sang his hit tracks, 'We Didn't Start the Fire', and 'Big Shot' from 1989 and 1978, respectively, while his daughters Della Joel and Remmy Joel danced around.

Joel's diagnosis is a condition where fluid accumulates in the brain, affecting regular functions like balance, hearing, and vision. Despite cancelling his 2025 tour, he went up the amphitheatre's stage with vigour, as per TMZ.

Before taking on Wellington, Billy Joel had had a time of his own.

Starting as part of bands and a staunch demo voice, Billy Joel rose to prominence slowly and steadily. He has firmly expressed The Beatles and other British Invasion acts to be his inspirations for rock music.

Joel is a 2013 Kennedy Centre Honoree and received his honorary doctorate in Fine Arts from Syracuse University, New York, in 2006. His single 'Piano Man' is what gained him the nickname, falling in line with his mastery over the instrument.

Billy Joel is continuing to follow the tune of his heart, regardless of ailments. The 'Piano Man' celebrates his music as he takes up small stages in his days of recovery.
