The clash between Scott Pelley and Bari Weiss has become one of the most closely watched disputes inside CBS News. Tensions escalated after Weiss-backed leadership changes at 60 Minutes, including the departures of veteran figures Tanya Simon, Sharyn Alfonsi, and Cecilia Vega. Following Pelley's public criticism of the network's direction and his subsequent exit, the disagreement appears to have intensified further, with the longtime correspondent now reportedly calling for Weiss's removal from CBS News' top editorial role.

In an interview with The New York Times, Scott Pelley said he believes Paramount Skydance should remove Bari Weiss as the head of CBS News. He argued that the network's current leadership structure is failing. The former correspondent said his concern centers on editorial direction and what he described as a growing perception of political bias within the newsroom.

"But right now, CBS News is on fire," Pelley stated. He used that stark assessment while explaining why he hopes Paramount Skydance reconsiders its leadership decisions. The veteran journalist questioned why sweeping changes were made to a news division that he characterized as highly successful. He also suggested that experienced oversight is needed to restore confidence and stability.

"But television’s not her thing," he said. Pelley stressed that he considers Weiss a successful media entrepreneur and a "lovely person," but argued that leading a major television news organization requires a different set of skills. He contended that executives without substantial broadcast experience are struggling to manage one of the country's most influential news operations.

To illustrate his point, Pelley compared Weiss leading CBS News to being asked to pilot a fully loaded jet without the necessary training. He suggested that her success with The Free Press does not automatically translate to television leadership. The remarks mark one of his clearest calls yet for a change at the top of CBS News.

Even as Pelley is no longer a part of 60 Minutes, he is still making sure to keep himself busy

What Scott Pelley is upto

Beyond his increasingly public dispute with CBS News leadership, Scott Pelley has also been engaging directly with supporters. The veteran journalist recently broke his silence on Instagram. He shared a photo from the water and thanked viewers for their backing.

At the same time, speculation about Pelley's next move has intensified. The longtime broadcaster's credentials, built across nearly four decades and dozens of Emmy Awards, have made him an attractive prospect for rival networks. Rachel Maddow even used a live MSNBC broadcast to publicly invite Pelley to join the channel, underscoring how a dispute that began inside CBS News has evolved into a broader conversation about the future of one of television journalism's most recognizable figures.
