Superheroes either die while trying to keep Planet Earth intact or retire to tend to a life they missed out on. Chris Pratt's Peter Quill chose the latter, but with a slight space-lag from Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.

In Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3's ending, a chain of events and epiphanies led Peter Quill back to Earth. While his life resumed a solitude contrary to outer-space havoc, Chris Pratt shared his take on what occupies the hiatus of the superhero now.

"Probably denying the fact that he was responsible for the death of Iron Man," the actor stated first, as per Pratt on Screen Time.

"While simultaneously trying to convince people that he was a superhero," Pratt continued. The actor has also imagined Peter to be catching up with all the music made in the time he had been gone, between the 80s and 2020s.

Peter Quill's time on Earth may be planned, but his return to battle alongside the Avengers looks the opposite.

Peter Quill's return in Avengers: Doomsday

The fifth Avengers movie in the MCU, Avengers: Doomsday, has been scheduled to release on December 18, 2026. Much of the cast is an assembly from several films across the MCU, but Peter Quill's return is still up for debate.

Chris Pratt himself has added fuel to the fire, stating that he would reveal Peter's return-status only to the Pope, while on Jimmy Kimmel Live! Some believe he will reappear, and others think his ending in Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 3 poses no obstacles to tackle in Avengers: Doomsday.

Avengers comeback or not, Chris Pratt rests assured of Peter Quill's time on Earth. Peter, on the other hand, has plenty to learn from the time he was gone before he could join the Avengers.
