The musician and performer has been confirmed for Nolan’s forthcoming opus, The Odyssey, revealed to the public in a sudden television trailer during the NFL AFC Championship game. It appears, by the existence of a personal note Nolan had sent, that the director had selected Travis Scott long before the world caught wind of it.

Christopher Nolan sent a handwritten note to Travis Scott in September 2020, praising the music video for his track 'Franchise'. The note arrived after Nolan viewed the video, which had been shot entirely on film, a medium Nolan famously champions.

"Great work, Chris," Nolan praised Scott's talent, an achievement anyone would cherish. Nolan specifically mentioned his excitement to hear 'Franchise' on IMAX speakers and to see the sheep stampede across the giant screen, describing it as a “Travis/Tenet/Travis sandwich.”

'Franchise ' debuted globally in select IMAX theaters on September 24, 2020, immediately preceding screenings of Nolan’s Tenet. Previously, the rapper had recorded 'The Plan' for the Tenet soundtrack, which Nolan termed as a final piece of the year-long puzzle, cementing their collaborative relationship.

While Nolan’s endearing note shows he had his sights on Travis Scott long ago, the mystery of Scott’s role in The Odyssey remains.

Travis Scott plays a character in Christopher Nolan’s 2026 film The Odyssey who functions as a storyteller within the narrative. This role, visible in the 30-second television spot for The Odyssey, shows Scott in a significant scene at the court of King Menelaus, played by Jon Bernthal.

In the banquet scene, Travis Scott’s character stands on a table to command the attention of a group of soldiers while recounting Odysseus’ exploits during the Trojan War. He specifically mentions the trick of the Trojan Horse used to breach the city’s walls, signaling a central narrative function.

Fans speculate that Travis Scott might portray Phemius, the court poet of Ithaca, who performs for the suitors in Homer’s epic. Other theories suggest he could play a veteran of the Trojan War, bridging Telemachus’ understanding.

Theories even suggest heroic figures such as Achilles or Memnon based on his armored appearance. The note revealed Nolan’s intent, yet theories about whether Scott is a bard, a soldier, or a hero in The Odyssey persist.
