A different kind of virus, one of impressive ratings and hype over Cillian Murphy's credits, has broken across Hollywood. 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple is coming soon, and the critics have already approved it.

The 28 Days Later franchise has been all the rage since its first movie in 2002. Come 2026, the hype around it is now cemented as sustained, even after several expansions to the universe.

With Nia DaCosta sharing the baton with Danny Boyle, the film has received a 94% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. The reviews range from praising the movie's on-point delivery to DaCosta marking her territory in the horror-thriller genre.

"It's visually stunning, often genuinely frightening, and wonderfully weird while never letting go of the heart," said Matthew Jackson on Rotten Tomatoes. Adding to the excitement, Cillian Murphy's starring role in 28 Days Later has morphed into that of the Executive Producer here.

Cillian Murphy's ties to the world of Danny Boyles dates back a long time.

Who is Cillian Murphy in 28 Days Later?

28 Days Later was the first installment of the franchise in 2002. Cillian Murphy's role as Jim may seem short in description, but he served as the anchor of the perspective for the movie.

In the movie, Murphy's character awakens from a coma to find the city swimming with people infected by the rage virus. He is then rescued, finds out about his parents' demise, and fights back as the politics behind the Rage virus unfurl.

28 Years Later: The Bone Temple will be the fourth film in the franchise. With a solid reception even before its release, Nia DaCosta's spin on the film is set to be a viral breakout by itself.
