Netflix is not only expanding but setting its flag deeper in the lands of anime. Cyberpunk: Edgerunners' Night City seems to be one of the locations the streamer has planned big with.

Cyberpunk: Edgerunners had first enchanted the Netflix audience in 2022. While hopes of a sequel were dimmed by the involved studios, July 2025 received a teaser for Cyberpunk Edgerunners 2. Updates have been slow, but present nonetheless, with production underway.

The cast of the sequel, however, is yet to be confirmed. Speculations about the survivors of the first installment, like Aoi Yūki and  Yasuyuki Kase, who voice Lucy and Falco, respectively, have been brewing, with no confirmation in sight.

This re-spin of Cyberpunk: Edgerunners has been crowned as yet another standalone set in the same age, as per Games Radar. While it does not directly connect to the plot of the first installment, it will be a continuation of the timeline.

The Cyberpunk 2077 blog has hinted that the next release will be a continuation of the new age's addiction to spectacle.

When is the next Cyberpunk: Edgerunners release?

The release date of the upcoming installment is yet to be confirmed by the studios. The new standalone season is going to be 10 episodes long, much like the first Cyberpunk: Edgerunners.

Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, the first run, was set in 2076, a year before the video game title it is derived from (Cyberpunk 2077). Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 has been confirmed to retain Night City but with a different crew, as per Michal Nowakowski (via Games Radar)

Regardless of cast confirmation, director Kai Ikarashi and character designer Kanno Ichigo will be joining for the reprise. Story writer of the series, Bartosz Sztybor, and the original video game studio CD Projekt Red are confirmed as well.
