Netflix and the Sussexes’ partnership has long stood between ambition and scrutiny, especially after recent chaotic moments that kept the deal under intense spotlight. Yet, just as the noise peaked, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are shifting the narrative. The duo is now returning to Netflix with a new polo-themed drama, revisiting a world they first explored in their 2024 docuseries.

Adding to this fresh shift, Netflix is currently developing a scripted polo-themed drama, executive-produced by Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. Penned by Francisca X. Hu, who previously worked on Peacock's Teacup and the CW’s Dynasty, the series rides straight into the high-stakes world of elite polo in Wellington, Florida, capturing both the glamour and the grit. This scripted series follows the couple's 2024 non-scripted docuseries, Polo, which also explored the Wellington polo scene.

While the series remains untitled, it is officially in development at Netflix, with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle serving as executive producers under Archewell Productions.

Hu also executive produces the series, joined by head of scripted content Tracy Ryerson, as well as Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage from Fake Empire, bringing together a team known for crafting high-stakes, character-driven drama. However, as the duo edges closer to bringing yet another project to Netflix, the narrative around their partnership seems to be shifting, quietly pushing back against rumours of a fractured relationship.

Yet the criticism seems far from fading, with recent royal commentary once again placing Markle under the spotlight, adding another layer of tension to their already closely watched journey.

Meghan Markle once again under fire as royal commentary questions her Hollywood standing

While her alleged abrupt exit from a Netflix meeting had already stirred conversation, Meghan Markle now faces a fresh wave of criticism, as royal commentator Kevin O’Sullivan and biographer Angela Levin discussed the fallout on TalkTV, claiming the couple’s Hollywood run has faltered and that no one in the industry would want to work with them.

“No one will work with them. They got no money coming in now; their Hollywood dream has ended in disaster," O’Sullivan said.

Adding further, Levin agreed with O’Sullivan and said things may not be going as planned for the couple, while also suggesting the importance of looking within and reflecting on one’s own actions, especially when things go wrong.

"The trouble with her is that she doesn't ever try and look at herself…we all have to do that," Levin said.

However, while the new growing criticism doesn’t seem to leave Markle anytime soon, her journey with Netflix at least appears to be taking a positive turn with the upcoming polo-themed drama.
