Stephen Colbert is well-known for his trademark satirical jabs at politics. One person who does not have a lot of liking for the quirk seems to be President Donald J.Trump.

Donald Trump had taken over as not just the host, but as a central name in the Kennedy Centre's title itself. Stephen Colbert's comment on the President's time for theatrics made him order his talk show's immediate cancellation in return.

"CBS should 'put him to sleep,’ NOW, it is the humanitarian thing to do!", Trump exclaimed via Truth Social. Trump made comments on the apparent low ratings of Colbert's show.

Colbert's dialogue came with a rerun of an episode originally aired on December 6. His comments on the President's takeover of the Kennedy Center board.

Whether Trump's wishes are granted or not, Stephen Colbert's time on the screens is already decided.

After 33 years of airing, since August 1993, The Late Show will be cancelled in 2026. The unexpected announcement came from CBS in July 2025.

As of 2025, Trump stands as possibly the only vocal disliker, yet watcher of The Late Show with Stephen Colbert. With this wish, the President has asked for his share of Christmas gifts just a day early this year.
