Not everyone seems to be happy with Dua Lipa and Callum Turner's wedding bells. The 30-year-old pop sensation and her 36-year-old new husband landed in Sicily on Thursday for a lavish celebration of their marriage. Charli XCX, Mark Ronson, and Donatella Versace are among the guests at the three-day celebration, which is said to have cost $1.7 million (£1.5 million) and taken over the city. 

However, some locals are not pleased, as evidenced by the posters and spray paint graffiti that adorn streets and monuments, warning newlyweds that Palermo is "not for rent." According to The Sun, Lipa paid around $6,670 (£5,000) to compensate the angry locals. In order to keep vendors and visitors from complaining about the partying, the singer and her husband are also thought to have reserved multiple Airbnb properties.

It all started when a square in the city and Piazza Sant'Anna were blocked off for the party. This infuriated the locals and prompted them to take action. Those who opposed the party displayed posters that said things like "Our square is not your living room" and "Palermo is not for rent." Graffiti also appeared in the Piazza Croce dei Vespri. There were also placards that were displayed to express disapproval of the disruption to normal life.

Nonetheless, it seems that the singer has taken steps to placate those who live closest to the event. Especially those who have parking issues as a result of the area surrounding the Villa Igiea hotel. However, the situation was different when they first arrived in the city. Earlier this week, residents of the capital city of the Italian island reportedly attempted to catch a glimpse of Lipa and Turner's lavish celebrations.

The couple tied the knot just a week before in London, before jetting off to the celebration in Italy.

Before traveling overseas, Dua Lipa and Callum Turner completed the legal paperwork for their marriage. Last weekend, they were formally married in a 30-minute ceremony at Old Marylebone Town Hall, London. Lipa walked down the aisle with her parents, Dukagjin and Anesa, while her sister, Rina, and brother, Gjin, looked on. It was an intimate occasion, with only a few family members present.

A few days later, they traveled to Italy to formally begin the celebrations. The party started on Thursday night with an outdoor party at the five-star Villa Igiea hotel. The celebrations, however, have been the polar opposite of their intimate, quiet wedding.
