The Emmys and other outlets, including Peacock, were 6.7 million viewers. There might be a slight adjustment when the official figures are released Wednesday, but the result is down about 10 percent from a preliminary 2025 audience of 7.42 million, which was later revised upward to a final same-day rating of 7.59 million.

An equivalent upward revision for this year's awards show would put the numbers for the NBC/Peacock broadcast on par with 6.9 million viewers for the 2024 Emmys broadcast on ABC.

The Emmy awards showed progress from the 2022 event, when the last Emmys to air on NBC pulled an average of 5.92 million viewers.

The NBC-only output for the awards this year was around 6.2 million, with another half a million coming from Peacock and other digital outlets. Host Mariska Hargitay of Law & Order: SVU had herEmmys share of highs and lows; theApple TV's atBay topped the night with six awards, including best comedy series, best writing and direction in comedy and best acting for Matthew Rhys, Kate O'Flynn and Stephen Root.

Ten other wins for AppleTV's atBay, combined with eight wins at the earlier Creative Arts show, established the comedy series with the most-ever Emmys in a single year with 14. (The streamer scored a total 28 Emmys overall.)

The 78th Emmys were the last to be aired by the Television Academy on the current collaboration with ABC, CBS, Fox and NBC.

The Academy is negotiating with Prime Video about relocating the Emmys to the Amazon-owned streamer; the previous ceremonies all were broadcast by a network.
