Speaking with TVLine about the final season of The Boys, Eric Kripke pointed to Episode 3 as a turning point where Homelander descends into a deeper, more dangerous state of delusion, fully leaning into his growing god complex. As his mindset shifts toward something more absolute, the season raises the stakes sharply, already proving that no one is safe with A-Train’s sudden death in the premiere. To this, Kripke made it clear that the final season removes all limits, giving the writers full freedom to push characters into extreme, often deadly outcomes without holding anything back.

"It was really invigorating knowing you don't have to keep anyone alive." Kripe said.

However, before addressing the final arc, Eric Kripke also noted how the moment oddly aligned with real-world events, including an AI-generated image of Donald Trump portraying himself as Jesus. He clarified that the overlap was purely coincidental, as the episode had been written nearly two years earlier, long before these events unfolded.

But even as Homelander spirals more dangerously than ever, Season 5 also brings back one of its most eerie characters, Cindy.

Cindy, once a silent patient hidden inside Vought’s Sage Grove Center, now returns as one of the most unsettling forces in The Boys. First introduced in Season 2 and feared even in confinement, her escape marked the beginning of a quiet but dangerous presence that never fully disappeared. Now, with Season 5 reaching deeper into its chaos, her reappearance alongside Homelander’s rising circle pushes the stakes further, turning her from a shadowed figure into an active and deadly force.

Meanwhile, with only three episodes out and five more leading up to May 20, 2026, the season continues to tighten around its core players. Figures like Karl Urban, Jack Quaid, and Antony Starr remain at the centre, as shifting loyalties and returning forces steadily close in from all sides. With names like Jensen Ackles and Giancarlo Esposito back in play, the narrative moves forward with a sense that nothing is stable and no one is safe.
