The Boys creator Eric Kripke has confirmed that the script for Vought Rising has been completed. Prime Video’s latest expedition into superpowered moral bankruptcy drags Jensen Ackles and Aya Cash back to the 1950s, where Vought International apparently treated ethics as decorative wallpaper. As fans prepare to be transported back to early corruption of Vought, Eric Kripke has dropped a few fun teases.

During an interview with Polygon, The Boys creator Eric Kripke confirmed that the script for Vought Rising has already been completed. Kripke described the Jensen Ackles-led prequel as a larger expansion of the Vought universe rather than a simple nostalgia exercise.

“It has a season-wide story that has a satisfying ending, but then it definitely opens a door into a new adventure and a new world, and we would love to keep it going,” Eric Kripke explained that Vought Rising was intentionally designed with future storytelling opportunities in mind. The producer also noted that continuing the series ultimately depends on studio approval and audience response.

Kripke’s comments arrived after Polygon asked about the cancellation of Gen V following its second season. While the spin-off ended earlier than expected, the television writer made it clear that he still sees potential in those younger characters. Eric Kripke suggested that future Vought-centered projects could continue their unfinished arcs in different forms.

“I think there is more story among the Gen V kids,” Eric Kripke told Polygon while discussing the franchise’s future. The producer did admit those stories may not continue within Gen V itself. But he also emphasized his interest in expanding the larger Vought universe with the characters.

With Gen V gone and Vought Rising already having plotted its future, one wonders how the latter affects the former.

How Gen V will be affecting Vought Rising's storyline

The end of Gen V will likely push Vought Rising into carrying more long-term franchise responsibility than originally expected. Instead of balancing multiple active spin-offs, Prime Video now appears focused on building the Vought mythology through its 1950s storyline. That change also gives Eric Kripke more room to connect older corporate secrets, political manipulation, and legacy villains directly to the larger universe.

The cancellation may additionally affect how future Vought characters are introduced and sustained across projects. Several unresolved Gen V arcs are expected to continue elsewhere, meaning Vought Rising could quietly plant narrative foundations for those future crossovers without revisiting the campus setting itself. With Eric Kripke confirming the completed scripts, the prequel already seems designed to support the franchise’s next major phase.
