Stranger Things fans currently stand at a crossroads, torn between belief and skepticism over rumors about Season 5 Episode 9. Many believe that this is not how the Duffer Brothers intended the words "I believe" to be used. True or not, Netflix is facing the consequences.

Stranger Things fans caused significant disruption on Netflix as speculation about a "secret" ninth episode reached a fever pitch. Although no widespread crash was reported, users experienced brief outages and slow streaming, reflecting a surge in global traffic from dedicated viewers.

Netflix responded to the frenzy by updating its social media bios, confirming that all episodes were already available for viewing. This made almost all to leave the 'Conformity gate theory club'.

Believers of the theory suggested that the happy ending in Episode 8’s epilogue was a Vecna-inspired illusion. They cited character hand gestures like Vecna's, the repeated prominence of the number seven, a Netflix search quirk indexing the phrase 'fake ending', and a lot more so-called evidence that had them at a crossroads.

A few stuborn beleivers of the theory beleive taht the secret episode will not air on January 7. Rather they believe that the docuentary One Last Adventure: The Making of Stranger Things 5, is actually a secret episode inspired by Five Night at Freddy's.

Theories may not fill plot holes, but some projects can mend the Stranger Things-shaped hole in fans’ hearts.

Upcoming Stranger Things projects fans should not miss

Stranger Things devotees have reason to celebrate with multiple upcoming ventures. One Last Adventure: The Making of Stranger Things 5, arriving January 12, 2026, promises behind-the-scenes insights, chronicling the final season and the Duffer Brothers’ intricate orchestration of suspense and spectacle.

Spring 2026 brings Stranger Things: Tales From '85, a two-season animated series. Eleven, Mike, Will, Lucas, Dustin, and Max return to battle Pumpkin Zombies, framed in a Saturday morning cartoon style, with new voices breathing life into familiar faces.

Meanwhile, a live-action spinoff series remains shrouded in mystery. The Duffer Brothers plan a fresh town, decade, and cast, with the storyline reportedly revolving around a lingering black rock, a clue fans will eagerly dissect following the Season 5 finale.

Fans can also engage with Stranger Things: The First Shadow on Broadway and in London, exploring Henry Creel’s origin in 1959. Complementing the theatrical experience, video games, Flight of Icarus, and Tales From Hawkins provide expanded narratives and immersive storytelling.
