‘Game of Thrones’ Prequel Series: Release Schedule, No. Of Episodes and Runtime for ‘A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms'

Winter has arrived at a different time this year, with A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms traversing the lands of production. As Game of Thrones is given a new perspective, it is crucial to understand what comes with it.
It has been 7 years since Game of Thrones came to an end after 8 seasons. Since then, A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms touches Westeros once again, come January 18, 2026, as per several outlets.
As per executive producer Ira Parker via Collider, the show is set to run for a total of 6 episodes, with runtimes of half an hour. The premiere episode, titled The Hedge Knight, will be 43 minutes long.
The second episode will air on January 25, 2026, according to a weekly schedule. It has been titled Hard Salt Beef. Owen Harris and Sarah Adina Smith will be directing the show.
Plot-wise, A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms does not stray from George R.R Martin's idea in Game of Thrones.
What is A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms about?
The upcoming prequel's trailer was released back in October 2025. Since then, A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms has been established as a lighter and ground-level take on this tale of the land.
The show will follow George R.R Martin's novella series, Tales of Dunk and Egg. The Targaryen house will be hinted at, along with political unrest here and there. However, the story will largely focus on the young knight Ser Duncan the Tall and an even younger squire called Egg.
Game of Thrones will be donning a new, more innocent cloak with A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms. Come January 18, Dunk and Egg will take over the screens as oracles to the wintry battles ahead of them.
