Godzilla: Minus Zero has officially warned fans worldwide of its theater invasion, promising unprecedented destruction. As the direct sequel to the Academy Award-winning Godzilla Minus One, the film was shot across Japan, Norway, and New Zealand, leaving audiences eager for monstrous action.

Toho and its North American distributor, GKIDS, officially announced the premiere dates for Godzilla Minus Zero, the direct sequel to Godzilla Minus One. The film will open in Japan on November 3, 2026, and in North America on November 6, 2026.

The Japanese premiere coincides with Godzilla Day, celebrating the 72nd anniversary of the original 1954 Godzilla. This near-simultaneous release is unprecedented, as a Japanese-produced Godzilla film has never opened in North America just three days after its domestic debut.

Toho manages the domestic launch, while GKIDS ensures North American audiences experience the monster mayhem in theaters. Fans can expect meticulously timed destruction and epic city-crushing sequences, continuing the cinematic legacy established by Godzilla Minus One.

True to form, the creators aim to satisfy fans, whose demands are taller than Godzilla himself.

Takashi Yamazaki returns as director, writer, and visual effects supervisor, ensuring that Godzilla Minus Zero continues the character-driven narrative established in Godzilla Minus One. Ryunosuke Kamiki and Minami Hamabe reprise their roles, keeping the human stakes at the heart of the monstrous chaos.

The story moves closer to 1954, connecting the sequel to the original Godzilla. This timeline expansion allows for a darker tone and more destructive spectacle, while the mysterious G-cell mark on Noriko’s neck hints at new threats that will challenge both humanity and Godzilla.

During a Q&A panel at New York Comic-Con, Yamazaki signaled the potential arrival of a villain, with Hedorah most widely speculated.
