Halle Berry and ex Olivier Martinez had “icy” exchanges, with the actress reportedly glaring at the French actor as they made their way into Los Angeles Superior Court on Monday for their heated custody battle.

Berry, who donned a chic, dark pantsuit and black shades, and Martinez both declined to comment on the high-profile case as they arrived at the courthouse Monday morning. During a lunch break, Martinez also declined to comment on the case.

The former couple, who finalized their divorce in 2023, are embroiled in a custody battle over their 13-year-old son, Maceo, following explosive domestic violence allegations.

Berry’s 18-year-old daughter, Nahla Aubry, spoke out in support of her mom on Monday amid the contentious case. “I have never once witnessed any sort of aggressive behavior from my mother towards my younger half-brother,” she wrote in a legal declaration filed in court.

Berry’s legal team arrived Monday alongside her fiancé, Van Hunt. During Monday’s hearing, which stemmed from a temporary restraining order granted to Martinez earlier this month, Berry’s attorney urged the judge to dismiss the order and for Berry and Martinez to return to their previously agreed-upon 50/50 custody arrangement.

Martinez has claimed that Berry choked and hit Maceo after a disagreement about playing a virtual reality video game, but Berry has denied the allegations and called them “entirely meritless and deliberately misleading.”

In court filings, Berry claimed that she is the victim of domestic violence in the relationship and has accused Martinez of interfering with Maceo’s education and therapy. She has also alleged that he’s trying to alienate Maceo from her.

Berry also took issue with Maceo testifying, claiming that Martinez “coached and manipulated” their son.

During Monday’s hearing, Maceo testified for almost four hours. Berry and Martinez were ordered by the judge to leave the courtroom while Maceo testified and his testimony was under seal. Martinez is seeking sole physical and legal custody of Maceo.
