Harlan Coben appears ready to unpack his expanding Netflix slate with the United Kingdom adaptation of The Woods, led by Michelle Keegan and Tom Bateman. The series follows Coben's already packed Netflix slate with Run Away and the upcoming I Will Find You. With yet another series, the storyteller ensures audiences remain delightfully entangled in his ever-twisting narrative universe.
Netflix is returning to the shadowy corridors of suspense with a fresh adaptation of Harlan Coben’s 2007 book, The Woods, bringing together Michelle Keegan and Tom Bateman in a brooding, emotionally charged narrative. This eight-part limited series signals Keegan’s high-profile re-entry into the ever-expanding Coben universe, following the striking global reception of Fool Me Once.
Filming commenced on April 28, 2026, across Bolton and the wider North West of England, promising an atmospheric visual palette for the characters. As for Tom Bateman, he steps into the role of Paul Copeland, a formidable barrister and devoted single father whose past refuses to remain buried. Opposite him, Michelle Keegan portrays Lucy Silverfield, the woman who once held his heart and perhaps still holds fragments of the truth.
The narrative pivots on a chilling discovery that resurrects a decades-old mystery. Twenty years after Copeland’s sister Camille vanished from a summer camp under unsettling circumstances, the emergence of a body stirs dormant fears and dangerous possibilities. The case threatens to unravel not only professional boundaries but also the fragile threads of memory and grief.
Behind the scenes, the series reunites Harlan Coben with writer Danny Brocklehurst and Quay Street Productions, a creative alliance responsible for recent gripping successes such as Run Away. Release date for the show remains under wraps.
This series is hardly Coben’s first rodeo, with the story already enjoying two earlier adaptations across different corners of the world
The earlier adaptations of the Harlan Coben book
Harlan Coben’s The Woods has proven far too compelling to remain confined to the page, inspiring two distinct television interpretations. The first arrived in 2020 as a Polish-language miniseries, The Woods (W głębi lasu), relocating the mystery to Warsaw. It followed prosecutor Paweł Kopiński as he revisited his sister’s haunting 25-year-old disappearance.
The narrative’s persistence lies in its ability to reshape itself without losing its unsettling core, allowing each adaptation to explore grief and memory through a different cultural lens. Now, the story prepares for yet another transformation, this time guided by Quay Street Productions. It is, unmistakably, stepping into an exciting new United Kingdom adaptation.
