Stranger Things seems to have had inspirational effects on Gaten Matarazzo. While playing Dustin Henderson from the 80s, the actor hit close to home by looking up to a 90s Hollywood trailblazer.
Gaten Matarazzo's talent for drawing Dustin's polymathic character does not come without his drive to learn. When asked who he would fancy working with, the actor's immediate answer was the '90s legend, Nathan Lane.
"He's incredible," Matarazzo, 23, exclaimed while speaking to Elite Daily. While he acknowledged that perfectionism in acting is only a myth, he hailed Lane's expertise as something that has always enraptured him.
"I’ve never seen him do something that I don’t find to be absolutely enrapturing," Matarazzo shared with Elite Daily. While Dustin thought Eddie Munson the best in Stranger Things, Matarazzo himself keeps his inspirations a little ahead of the 80s.
For Matrazzo to pick Nathan Lane without batting an eye, the mid-century modern-born icon has a portfolio that more than justifies it.
All the reasons Gaten Matarazzo must love Nathan Lane for
Nathan Lane's mark on Hollywood spans from drawing peeling laughter to a tear from the eye. His first time on stage was a rendition of A Midsummer Night's Dream. The actor has since stretched himself across with roles in both film and TV.
Lane holds prestige by the dozen as well. He has bagged accolades from the Tony Awards, Drama Desk Awards, among others, to a Theatre World John Willis Lifetime Achievement Award as well.
Gaten Matarazzo's inspiration lies on the correct path if he looks for a dynamic that shifts with finesse between comedy and drama. Nathan Lane's presence dotting the '90s Hollywood scene in the genre makes him just the person for it.
