The Conjuring holds power over the horror genre. However, like all power must be kept in check, Hollywood's horror giant has roots to tend to, as well.
The Conjuring was the first of nine movies that stem from the mishappenings of real life. Released in 2013, the main characters Ed and Lorraine Warren turned out to be real-life Paranormal investigators.
The Warrens were, in fact, hired by the Perron family to look into the strange happenings in their newly moved-in home in Rhode Island. While the events occurred in the 1970s, Andrea Perron, the daughter, chronicled these happenings in her book, House of Darkness: House of Light, in 2011.
"From benign to benevolent to oblivious to mean-spirited, the spirits were a wide variety of personalities," Perron told Global News in 2021. Perron's account also involved her mother speaking an otherworldly tongue and her chair strangely floating over the ground.
While these incidents are real-life inspired, their reality is a lot more monopolized than feared.
What happened to The Conjuring house?
The Perrons moved out of the Harrisville, Rhode Island, property in 1980. As per Realtor.com, the house has been put up for auction as of October 31, 2025.
There did come owners of the house after the Perrons, one of whom had been Cory Heinzen and Jennifer Heinzen in 2019. The couple cashed out the house as an experience, as well as room rentals.
The paranormal tourism legacy was carried on by Jaqueline Nuñez, who bought the property in 2022. However, the controversy following her undertaking slipped the estate out of her hands.
While the house could have been owned by paranormal investigator Jason Hawes, the sale fell through in January 2026. The house made famous by The Conjuring now stands independent, for who knows how long.
