If Hollywood loves anything more than box office records and doomed romances, it is reviving Frankenstein. From Guillermo del Toro’s Frankenstein to The Bride, DCU’s Creature Commandos, and The Last Frankenstein, the patched-up monster somehow always rises again. This time, the movie mercifully traded anguish and lightning bolts for jokes.

Kenan Thompson and Kel Mitchell have announced a horror-comedy titled Kenan & Kel Meet Frankenstein, positioning themselves as deliberate heirs to monster-era slapstick. The reveal on Prime Video’s Good Sports frames the project as an affectionate parody rather than a modern horror reinvention.

The film openly echoes Abbott and Costello Meet Frankenstein, using confusion and timing instead of fear. Thompson and Mitchell play delivery drivers whose routine job ends at a suspicious castle, where Frankenstein’s monster is awakened through pure accident rather than gothic ambition.

Written by Jonah Feingold and produced through Artists for Artists with Range Media Partners, the project prioritizes character-driven comedy. With filming set for summer 2026, according to the reveal on Good Sports, the duo emphasizes laughs, nostalgia, and physical humor over tragedy, dread, or tortured mythology.

After Good Burger 2 proved the chemistry still works, the pair is once again flirting with horror, only this time with bolts and castles.

The Frankenstein film will not mark Kenan Thompson and Kel Mitchell’s first experiment with horror-comedy. They previously led Two Heads Are Better Than None, a Nickelodeon television film that ended their sitcom by placing their characters inside a threatening gothic mansion.

That story involved a so-called headless knight who captured victims to steal their heads, turning slapstick reactions into survival tools. The Frankenstein project mirrors this approach, replacing the knight with a classic monster while preserving physical comedy under real danger.
