Deepening ties can sometimes come at the cost of other, more loved things in life. Miles Heizer, having to let go of a resonating series, has had the exact effect on the actor.

Netflix's gay-centric series Boots came to a screeching end in December 2025. While he was signed up for other projects with the streamer, Miles Heizer is not exactly happy about the cease.

"I’m devastated, to be honest," the teenager-playing-31-year-old actor told Gayety. Heizer revealed his expectations from the series and how the lack thereof is unfortunate for him.

He took to the premiere carpets of People We Meet on Vacation to express his sadness. He told Gayety that he had, in fact, been looking forward to turning old while playing Cameron Cope on Boots.

Regardless of its continuation, Heizer has, no doubt, made his mark through the queer series.

Netflix's identity-colored Boots

Boots was released on October 9, 2025, around four months after Pride month takes place. Despite the intentional delay, the series made a point with its plot centered around queer teenager Cameron's time in the military.

Boots has even been praised for its sensible exploration of masculinity in queer culture, according to Rotten Tomatoes. It has gained a 90% approval rating on the review website.

Heizer's sadness upon the cancellation of Boots is more about identity than about numbers. However, the series has successfully set the stage for more like it to come and hopefully, stay, in the future.
