Mel C, whose full name is Melanie Chisholm, reflected on the whirlwind of fame that came with being part of that iconic lineup. Behind the glitter and gold records, though, one night almost unraveled everything she had worked for.

Mel C revealed that a heated clash with Victoria Beckham nearly cost her a spot in the Spice Girls altogether. The tension began at the 1996 BRIT Awards, a night that started joyfully before spiraling out of control. The group had been celebrating with champagne and sharing a table with Lenny Kravitz. Amid the confusion of leaving the venue, tempers flared without warning.

"We were going to find our car, and whatever the situation was, I just turned around and go, 'Victoria, f*** off,'" She recalled on The Louis Theroux Podcast.

"I go home, go to bed, I wake up the next morning, and I was in a lot of trouble," she then added, describing how fast excitement turned into panic.

During the same appearance on The Louis Theroux Podcast, C shared that Melanie Brown and Geri Halliwell were left disgusted by her reaction. The group's manager also intervened, warning that a repeat incident would end her place in the band. She admitted feeling terrified of losing everything over what she called a trivial argument.

By late 2000, mounting exhaustion and shifting priorities made a pause almost inevitable for the group.
