Shaking off Geralt's ashes, Henry Cavill has set his sights on a new shade of grit for 2026. Better yet, he plans on diving In the Grey with one of the most intense shapeshifters of recent decades, Jake Gyllenhaal, and very soon.
Henry Cavill and Jake Gyllenhaal have spent most of 2025 and some of 2026 working at Guy Ritchie's brewery. Come April 10, 2026, the results, an action film titled In the Grey, will grace the American theatres.
Eiza González, who has previously worked with Cavill in 2024's The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare, will star as well. Gone Girl star Rosamund Pike and Oscar-winning Fisher Stevens round up the cast.
In the Grey was initially scheduled to release on January 17, 202,5 through Lionsgate. Production limbo would cause the movie's distribution rights to go under the radar by November 2025. Currently, Black Bear Pictures is set to handle the US distribution of the film, finalizing early 2026 to be apt for release.
Braving through the production purgatory, Guy Ritchie's In the Grey is bound to hold a plot worthy of the work.
What is In the Grey about?
Two elite combat and extraction specialists, John Grey and Michael Harris, are sent on a high-risk mission to rescue an elite negotiator. But what begins as a single extraction soon turns into a deadly double objective, holding the lives of many as hostage.
Henry Cavill portrays John Grey, while Jake Gyllenhaal dons Michael Harris. Eiza González will play the negotiator, Sophia. Jason Wong plays the character Gucci, while Emmett J. Scanlan and Carlos Bardem are also part of the cast.
In the Grey is set to be both Henry Cavill and Jake Gyllenhaal's first movie of 2026. With Guy Ritchie's rising reputation as the next Ridley Scott, assuming his sporadic release schedules, this film might just be the ice breaker of the year.
