A high-profile legal battle has erupted over a Malibu architectural landmark. What began as Kanye West’s ambitious renovation project has spiraled into lawsuits and financial disputes, turning the artist’s vision into a public clash with his former project manager.

A Los Angeles judge has officially cleared the way for a labor lawsuit against Kanye West, now known as Ye, to proceed to trial on March 2.

The dispute centers on West’s $57 million Malibu mansion, which he famously gutted. The court rejected West’s attempts to block the claims and shut the case down early, ensuring that a jury will ultimately decide the fate of this multimillion-dollar legal drama.

Tony Saxon, the construction manager, alleges he was subjected to extreme danger while overseeing the home’s transformation. He claims West demanded the removal of all windows and electricity, insisting on using hazardous generators indoors. Saxon asserted he was promised $20,000 weekly but received only one payment.

As luxury plans turned to chaos, the mansion became more than walls; it stood as a warning of ambition, risk, and a $36 million mistake that cannot be ignored.

The property, originally a masterpiece by architect Tadao Ando, became a shell of its former self under Kanye West’s direction. Tony Saxon described a bizarre off-the-grid vision that included a basement bomb shelter but lacked basic plumbing or stairs.

This architectural meltdown eventually forced West to sell the property for $21 million in 2024, representing a staggering $36 million loss.

In a retaliatory move, West filed his own lawsuit against Saxon and his legal team on January 8, 2026. He alleged they wrongfully placed a $1.8 million lien on the mansion to sabotage its sale and extract payments.

While the property has since been sold to a developer aiming to restore its original glory, the bitter legal warfare continues to escalate behind closed doors.
