‘Invincible’ Creators Say Bryan Cranston Is ‘Not Going to Win’ Against Them, Vow to Bring Him on the Show”

Invincible has long fueled fan casting wish lists, with viewers speculating about which A‑list voices would best fit its brutal, character‑driven universe. From live‑action icons to veteran animated performers, online debates have turned the show’s unclaimed roles into a kind of communal dream roster. Now, the creators have turned one of those fantasies into a real‑life pursuit, vowing that Bryan Cranston is “not going to win” this battle of wills.

Prime Video’s Invincible has built a reputation for its star‑studded voice cast, but there is one name the creators still cannot quite land: Bryan Cranston. In a 2025 interview with DiscussingFilm, showrunner Robert Kirkman revealed that Cranston, best known as Walter White in Breaking Bad, has declined multiple offers to join the superhero animated series, turning down roles across several seasons.

The show’s team has kept the door open, however, treating each offer as a “yearly tradition” while Cranston’s pattern has become a running joke among the staff. Kirkman later doubled down on his pursuit.

He told DiscussingFilm, “We’re not going to stop offering him roles. He’s not going to win… We’ll get him.” That line, delivered with characteristic humor, underscores how seriously the producers view Cranston as a dream addition, given his track record in both live‑action and animated voice work.

Credible reports, including pieces from industry‑focused outlets like DiscussingFilm and major genre sites, confirm that Cranston remains the only actor the series has offered a role to and has consistently refused. As the show gears up for future seasons, fans can expect the chase for Cranston to continue, with the Invincible team vowing to bring him into the fray—eventually.

Well, apart from Cranston, the show seems to be only amping up its arsenal of villains for the next chapter.

Thragg’s return adds to the next chapter

Invincible fans will soon see the return of one of the show’s most brutal villains: Thragg, the Grand Regent of the Viltrum Empire, voiced by Lee Pace. In interviews with ScreenRant and other outlets, Pace has confirmed that he will reprise his role for Season 5, describing the upcoming season as full of “fun stuff” and hinting that Thragg’s presence will reshape the balance of power on Earth once again.

Season 4 ended with Mark Grayson striking a tense, uneasy truce that lets Thragg and his surviving Viltrumites walk among humans, setting up a high‑stakes rematch in the next chapter. With the fifth season expected to center on the escalating Mark vs. Thragg conflict, plus broader galactic threats such as the Coalition of Planets and the Scourge Virus, the show’s stakes are shifting from street‑level superheroics to existential war.

Thragg’s return not only deepens the show’s main antagonist arc but also gives Invincible a reliable, fan‑favourite big‑name performance, much like the creators’ long‑running campaign to land Bryan Cranston. If you have not caught up yet, now is the time to stream the series on Amazon Prime Video and see how the cast lineup continues to expand.
