Apparently, football heartbreak was not painful enough, so a few fans decided to pour “Messi” chants directly into the wound.

The chaos erupted after Spain dumped Portugal out of the World Cup with a brutal 1-0 Round of 16 victory on July 6. As a shattered Speed left the stadium surrounded by security, rival fans began chanting Lionel Messi’s name at the Ronaldo superfan, and his remaining patience immediately packed its bags too. Speed reportedly lunged toward the crowd, demanding to know who had started the chant, forcing his security team to hold him back before Portugal’s elimination night accidentally gained a boxing undercard.

The near-brawl followed an even more dramatic scene inside the stadium, where Speed was spotted curled up in a corner and crying as Aitana’s “Superestrella” played in the background. For someone who has spent years defending Ronaldo like an unpaid member of his legal team, watching Portugal’s World Cup dream collapse was always going to hurt.

And somehow, this was not even Speed’s first football funeral of the week. Just a day earlier, he watched Brazil fall 2-1 to Norway as Erling Haaland’s late brace sent the five-time champions home and left Neymar devastated after his stoppage-time penalty could not rescue the night.

Brazil and Portugal have already joined Canada, Paraguay, Mexico, and the USA at the departure gate, while Germany and the Netherlands suffered even earlier exits. With several giants already erased from the bracket, this World Cup clearly has no interest in respecting reputations.

The final two Round of 16 battles now put Argentina against Egypt and Switzerland against Colombia, with only two more quarter-final seats left at the table. France will face Morocco, Spain will battle Belgium, and Norway will meet England as the road to the July 19 final gets brutally narrower. With more eliminations still looming, Speed might want to keep the tissues close and his security team even closer.

And with more World Cup heartbreaks still loading, IShowSpeed’s emotional damage counter may be nowhere near its final score.
