Just when Hannah Hall thinks she can finally breathe, everything around her begins to shift again. With Quinn Campano stepping fully into her father’s organised crime network, taking control and aligning with a hidden insider inside the U.S. Marshal’s office, Season 2 of The Last Thing He Told Me is left with a looming threat rather than answers. And as that danger begins to unfold, Jennifer Garner suggests that Hannah’s future may become far more uncomfortable following the series’ major new villain reveal.

While the finale hints at a potential third season, Garner leans into what lies ahead, sharing that she would especially welcome the chance to go head-to-head with Judy Greer even more. She further adds that just when Hannah begins to relax, someone behind the scenes starts setting things in motion, making her future far more uncomfortable, which is exactly what the final scene begins to suggest.

"But yeah, just when Hannah starts to relax, someone behind the scenes is ginning things up to make her very uncomfortable in the future, and that’s what that scene tells us.” Garner told Deadline.

With Season 1’s ending already paving the way for Season 2, alongside a sequel novel from author Laura Dave, the possibility of a third chapter does not feel out of reach. Nearly three years after its debut, The Last Thing He Told Me returned with a second season that expanded the world far beyond its original premise, building on Dave’s story, later adapted for screen by Josh Singer.

Meanwhile, the show has only tightened its grip on viewers, steadily holding onto its fandom as each twist deepens the mystery rather than resolving it.

The Return of Owen in The Last Thing He Told Me Season 2

Five years after Season 1 saw Owen Michaels in hiding, he steps out of the shadows and back into the centre of the story. His return forces Hannah Hall and Bailey to confront the secrets he left behind, along with the danger still tied to his past. Now heavily involved in the plot, Owen moves beyond being a distant mystery, as the story draws from The First Time I Saw Him and places him at the heart of the narrative.

Premiered its finale on April 10, 2026, on Apple TV+, Season 2 of The Last Thing He Told Me brings back a strong returning cast including Jennifer Garner, Angourie Rice, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, David Morse, and Augusto Aguilera. The season also introduces new additions like Judy Greer as Quinn Favreau, alongside John Noble, Luke Kirby, and Rita Wilson. Meanwhile, Aisha Tyler does not return for Season 2, marking a notable absence from the evolving storyline.

Meanwhile, as the show’s trajectory leaves behind loose threads that strongly hint at a possible Season 3, Hannah’s story feels far from over, with new dangers quietly taking shape beneath the surface.
