Jennifer Lopez has long been one of pop’s most reliable sources of summer anthems, from the early-2000s glow of ‘Jenny From the Block’ to the dance-floor rush of ‘On the Floor’ and the stadium-filling energy of ‘Let’s Get Loud.’ It’s been a while since she’s dropped a truly new seasonal staple, though, which is why fans perked up when she hinted that something fresh might be on the way.
Speaking on the Skip Intro with Krista Smith podcast, Lopez casually revealed that she is already sitting on a potential warm-weather hit.
“I might have a little summer song for everybody. I do, I think. I have it in my back pocket might drop it for the summer,” she said, keeping details deliberately vague when asked if she might be working on any new music. The phrasing suggests a track that is finished or close to it, waiting for the right moment to land. She pointed to a recent example to illustrate the strategy.
“We debuted ‘Save Me Tonight’ at Pride last year,” she noted, referencing how that performance introduced the track in a celebratory setting. Events like Pride, major televised performances, and large-scale concerts have long been part of her release playbook. Lopez hinted that she could follow a similar path again, teasing the possibility of a surprise debut.
“Maybe there will be a surprise thing that we do, maybe it’s not a surprise anymore because I just said it, but who knows?” she added. The mix of spontaneity and planning suggests that if the song arrives, it will likely be tied to a moment designed to amplify its impact.
Well, until the music drops, JLo fans can get more of her in Netflix's latest rom-com offering.
Office Romance puts Jennifer Lopez back at the center of a modern rom-com
Jennifer Lopez’s latest film, Office Romance, leans into familiar rom-com territory while updating it for a contemporary audience. She plays Jackie Cruz, the sharp and composed CEO of budget airline AirCruz, who has spent years proving her capability beyond family ties. Her structured world begins to shift when Daniel, a reserved British lawyer, joins her team to handle a major lawsuit.
The central tension revolves around both personal and professional stakes. AirCruz enforces a strict no-dating policy, complicating the growing connection between Jackie and Daniel. At the same time, a rival airline’s lawsuit threatens the company’s future, raising the stakes as Jackie navigates leadership and vulnerability.
Directed by Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again and Ticket to Paradise filmmaker Ol Parker, the movie blends classic romantic beats with a more irreverent tone. Brett Goldstein co-writes and co-stars as Daniel, bringing a mix of restraint and humor to the dynamic. While fans wait for a JLo summer song to tune in to, she is setting the atmosphere up with her Netflix romance.
