On Saturday, March 21, while interacting with fans at the MEGACON Orlando event, one of Cena’s fans, Matthew, became emotional as he shared that he is battling stage 4 colon cancer and revealed how he draws strength from Cena, asking if he could get a hug. Without thinking for a second, Cena immediately jumped off the stage and embraced him with a warm hug. He then reassured Matthew with a heartfelt promise that they would meet again next year.

The crowd erupted in cheers as the entire hall filled with applause, overwhelmed by Cena's heartfelt gesture. However, in a later meeting during a scheduled photo op, Cena instantly recognised Matthew, stepped forward to hug him again, and reaffirmed his promise that they would meet once more.

Cena himself has battled skin cancer, which he revealed in early 2025 while talking about his personal battle with skin cancer, sharing that doctors had to remove cancerous growths from his chest and shoulder twice. Since then, he has partnered with Neutrogena to raise awareness about skin safety and the importance of early detection.

And while winning hearts once again with this heartfelt gesture, Cena is all set to step back into the world of action and thrill to win fans’ hearts with his upcoming 2026 projects.

However, the star is not just set to dominate the screen, he is also heavily rumored to step back into the WWE arena with WrestleMania 42 in April 2026 as a headliner for the Hall of Fame, alongside projects like WWE: Unreal season 3, a TV series expected to be released in 2026, keeping his legacy alive beyond the ring.
