Making his return to the spotlight, Jonathan Majors, known for films like The Last Black Man in San Francisco, Creed III, Ant-Man and the Wasp Quantumania, and Magazine Dreams, recently stepped onto the South Carolina set of an untitled action project backed by The Daily Wire. But just over a week after several crew members walked off the production, what seemed like a comeback moment quickly turned tense, following a shocking on-set accident that raised serious safety concerns.

Recently reported by Deadline, Majors, along with co-star JC Kilcoyne, fell nearly six feet through an unsecured window on the South Carolina set of their untitled The Daily Wire action film. While Majors escaped without reported injuries, Kilcoyne required stitches across his hands, with the incident being described as avoidable after multiple sources confirmed the glass used was loose and not secured.

However, producers escalated the situation further by issuing a sharply dismissive response when questioned, intensifying the drama surrounding the set.

“don’t negotiate with communists,” producers told Deadline.

Adding further to the tension, one crew member, speaking anonymously, said they arrived after the fall and saw no one acknowledge what had happened, calling the situation “weird” and raising serious concerns about communication and safety on the production.

Meanwhile, sources told Deadline that the production had replaced the window with a loose sheet of tempered glass, originally intended for a later stunt that did not involve actors.

“When I got there, nobody mentioned anything about people falling out the window…It seemed weird to me,” a crew member told Deadline.

As the incident raises serious safety concerns, it also points to deeper issues that had already pushed the crew to walk off.

Multiple crew members walked off, leading to a strike called by IATSE over ongoing labour issues, turning what seemed like a routine shoot into a growing point of conflict.

However, the production pushes forward unfazed, continuing to film in parts despite the picket line, with reports suggesting it is actively trying to replace striking crew even as the union urges others not to step in. Backed by The Daily Wire and Bonfire Legend, and directed by Kyle Rankin, the film remains under wraps but follows a high-stakes, old-school action style inspired by Red Dawn and Toy Soldiers, adding further intensity to an already troubled production.

And as Jonathan Majors’ comeback project continues under a cloud of drama, the recent on-set fall only adds weight to an already intense situation surrounding the film.
