Kate Hudson and Hugh Jackman have brought back to life the spectacle of Lightning & Thunder. However, there seems to be one listener not very avid about the Song Sung Blue.

Michael Sardina Jr., the only son of Mike Sardina, half of Lightning & Thunder, is staunchly against Song Sung Blue. The 41-year-old has expressed his displeasure upon being cut out of the movie.

"Every interview that those monsters have been on national television don’t even mention my existence at all," he stated to The Daily Mail. Sardina asserted this as an insensitivity, claiming his undeniable presence in his late father's life, amid unjust portrayals as well.

"It steals all the hard work that my father put in his entire life," Sardina expressed to The Daily Mail. Mike Sardina Jr. shared that while his sister, Angelina Sardina, was signed to be fictionalized, he was intentionally left out of Song Sung Blue.

Song Sung Blue's spirit, on the other hand, lies in the efforts of revival, rather than forcefully resigning family members.

The legacy of Song Sung Blue on film

First immortalized through Greg Kohs' 2008 documentary Song Sung Blue, Lightning & Thunder was a Neil Diamond Tribute band. They functioned up until Mike Sardina's death through injury in 2006.

The film Song Sung Blue, titled after Neil Diamond's famous song, was released on December 25, 2025. Before the cinematic tribute, the duo had received a lifetime achievement award from the Wisconsin Area Music Industry.

Claire Sardina and Mike Sardina's names, if not legacy, have been frozen in time with cinematic indulgences. However, a few knicks are bound to arise, such as that on Michael Sardina Jr.'s part.
