Kevin Hart Says Streamers Like MrBeast Are Outperforming Hollywood With iPhones and Selfie Sticks

Kevin Hart is pointing out that creators filming on a phone are pulling in the viewers and ad dollars that Hollywood once owned. The man who has spent decades inside the studio system is now openly acknowledging that streamers are winning the budget, the audience, and the advertiser. And rather than resist the shift, Hart seems genuinely excited about where it is all heading.

Kevin Hart says streamers like MrBeast are giving Hollywood a serious run for its money, and the numbers back it up. Markiplier proved the point perfectly, making Iron Lung for under 3 million dollars and grossing 50 million at the box office, doing everything himself. Advertisers, who once funded those studios, are now chasing 250,000 live viewers on a 12-hour stream instead.

"So if I can put up five advertising spots during a 12-hour stream with a person that's garnishing 250 to 300000 live viewers that stay, well, you're surpassing TV," Hart said in a clip from the 7PM Brooklyn podcast, talking to Kazeem Famuyide.

Hart then added, "MrBeast is a billion-dollar business, and it's not his sketches of the competition. It's the f****** feastables," making clear that creators are not just entertaining, they are out-selling.

Hart is not just applauding from the sidelines. His production company Hartbeat signed deals with YouTube and Twitch creators, including Kinigra Deon and 85 South Show, and partnered with Tubi to expand creator opportunities. Hart also collaborated directly with Jimmy Donaldson in January 2026, co-hosting a celebrity challenge for Beast Games season 2, where 30 stars competed for a million dollars, going to charity. Respect backed by action lands differently than respect alone.

While Hart puts money behind creators building billion-dollar brands from bedrooms, his next chapter has him stepping into a very different kind of arena entirely.

The Roast of Kevin Hart on Netflix is arriving just in time

Kevin Hart is set to be roasted live on Netflix on 10 May 2026, as the grand finale of Netflix Is a Joke Fest 2026. Hosted by Shane Gillis, the special streams live at 8 PM ET from the Kia Forum in Los Angeles. Hart is also an executive producer alongside Jeff Ross, which means the man helping build the show is also the one getting torn apart on it.

Netflix is keeping the full roster lineup sealed, though names like Dwayne Johnson, Chris Rock, and Tony Hinchcliffe have been circling in rumours. The format mirrors The Roast of Tom Brad, a live, unfiltered two-to-three-hour event where no reputation is safe. Hart has been cheering creators on from the front row. Now Netflix pulls up a chair and puts him centre stage.
