House of Cards actor Kevin Spacey made a surprising return to the Cannes Film Festival after years away from Hollywood's biggest spotlight. Spacey’s appearance was a remarkable return to the international film limelight, making waves at this year’s Cannes Film Festival. He also attended multiple high-profile events during the prestigious week-long celebration of cinema. 

The 66-year-old actor was joined on the red carpet by model Via Lemann. He was at the festival on Wednesday, May 20, to attend the premiere of the French blockbuster De Gaulle: Tilting Iron.

Spacey walked arm-in-arm with Via on the carpet, and they were smiling together as they posed for photos. His presence at major red carpet events and public ceremonies marked another significant step in his gradual return to the entertainment industry. 

Additionally, Spacey was also honoured with the Award for Excellence in Film and Television at the private Better World Fund Gala on Tuesday, May 20. The event was held at the Carlton Hotel and was not a part of the festival.  

Despite years away from mainstream Hollywood, Spacey remains one of his generation’s most acclaimed Oscar-winning actors.

The 66-year-old also got a lifetime achievement award from a Cannes charity. He received multiple Emmy nominations for his performance in House of Cards and won a Tony Award for his Broadway work.

He has starred in film, television, and theatre for decades with several acclaimed performances. His notable works include L.A. Confidential, Seven, etc. Even though he has been away from mainstream projects for years, his award-winning performances are still widely talked about in the industry.

Kevin Spacey’s Cannes appearance was another unexpected chapter in his long, complicated career journey. The actor was a big attraction at the festival, with several public appearances and speeches throughout the week. He was again back in worldwide entertainment news for his role in the high-profile event.
