LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight arrives May 22, 2026, as a full-scale, story-driven open world experience that celebrates 86 years of Batman across film, television, comics, and games. Developed by TT Games and Warner Bros. Games, the title marks the fourth major entry in the LEGO Batman series.

It reframes the Caped Crusader’s mythology into a cohesive, accessible adventure that blends legacy storytelling with playful design. Players begin as a young Bruce Wayne, charting his transformation into Gotham’s protector. The story revisits defining moments like the Crime Alley tragedy and his training with the League of Shadows, building a structured origin that unfolds across the open world.

The game draws heavily from DC lore, introducing allies such as Jim Gordon, Catwoman, Robin, Nightwing, and Batgirl. Villains, including Joker, Bane, Penguin, and Ra's al Ghul, appear in LEGO-style form, balancing darker themes with humor. Set in a Gotham larger than previous entries, the game allows players to glide, swing, and drive through iconic locations.

More than 100 suits inspired by Batman’s long history can be unlocked, adding both visual variety and gameplay depth. Early access begins May 19 for deluxe edition buyers, with releases planned across PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, while a Nintendo Switch 2 version is still pending confirmation.

While the game revisits Batman’s past in interactive form, the character’s cinematic future is also beginning to take shape.

The next chapter of Gotham on the big screen

The Batman: Part II is set to arrive on October 1, 2027, continuing the grounded vision introduced by Matt Reeves. Robert Pattinson is expected to return as Batman, alongside Jeffrey Wright as Jim Gordon and Andy Serkis as Alfred. Returning faces are also expected to include Colin Farrell as the Penguin and Barry Keoghan as the Joker.

Reports suggest the cast may expand further with Scarlett Johansson and Sebastian Stan, with Stan linked to the role of Harvey Dent, adding another layer to the story’s themes of dual identity and corruption. Production is expected to begin in 2026 at Warner Bros. Leavesden in London, allowing for a full development cycle ahead of its release.

The sequel is being positioned carefully within a crowded release calendar, signaling a deliberate approach to maintaining the tone and quality that defined the first film. As Batman continues to evolve across games and films, fans are getting multiple ways to revisit Gotham from different angles.
