Wuthering Heights is not far from its romantic release, and Margot Robbie is playing her part in laying its path with crumbs. However, this time, they lead a little off script, at least that of the book.

Emily Brontë's Romantic Gothic fiction was considered a tumultuous one for the 1800s. A skim of the book, however, reveals that its graphic nature lies in its characters' emotional intensity rather than their physicality. Emerald Fennell's idea of portraying the tale's grit is the opposite, and Margot Robbie has only agreed.

"They never even really kiss", she added, "we kiss a lot...everywhere...a lot of kissing," Robbie said on Jimmy Kimmel Live, pitting the book and the movie against each other. Her answer addressed the question of whether there were ample passionate scenes in the film.

In addition, Robbie gushed about several instances of her being picked up by her co-star Jacob Elordi, as well, on the late-night show. She also revealed looking forward to the reaction of the female audience when Elordi appears on the show.

Even if not an-honest-to-source adaptation, Emerald Fennell's portfolio is more than enough of a source of confidence.

Emerald Fennell before Wuthering Heights

Currently basking in the fogs of Wuthering Heights, Emerald Fennell was previously famous for writing and directing the BBC's Killing Eve. The helming had, in fact, bagged her two Primetime Emmy Nominations in 2019. Fennell's third nomination for the award came as a supporting actress for The Crown in 2021.

Fennell's ties with Margot Robbie and Jacob Elordi, in fact, did not rise out of thin air. While she is currently helming Wuthering Heights with Robbie as executive producer, the same duo has been true for 2019's Academy Award-winning Promising Young Woman.

With Elordi, Fennell reunites after having him star in her 2023 feature, Saltburn. As Wuthering Heights steps too close for the comfort of ignorance, a new anticipation takes over for February 13, 2026.
