Meghan Markle took a break from her pseudo-royal duties with Close Personal Friends. Her side quest, however, seems to have backfired less as rusty skills and more as Kim Kardashian-like.

Meghan Markle's cameo role in Close Personal Friends was announced back in November 2025, as per Variety. Come 2026, her first days on set look a little less fluid than acting is supposed to be.

"It is so wooden it will make Kim Kardashian's acting seem almost awards-level," an insider told Radar Online about Markle's acting. The jab came with a comparison to Kim Kardashian's much-discussed appearance on Ryan Murphy's All's Fair.

Markle's role as herself in the comedy-drama marks her first after her departure as Rachel Zane from Suits. According to the sources on Radar Online, her performance was looked forward to, but to no satisfaction.

Despite the Duchess's struggles on-set, Close Personal Friends is being acted out full throttle by the rest of the cast.

Who are the Close Personal Friends?

Close Personal Friends had come onto the radar by August 2025. As of 2026, the front row is taken up by Brie Larson, Lily Collins, Jack Quiad, and Henry Golding, among others.

Despite the date being unannounced as of yet, the movie is being prepared for a 2026 release. Close Personal Friends is a comedy number, helmed by director Jason Orley and writer Isaac Aptaker.

As the film comes together, Meghan Markle is tasked with rebrushing up her skills. With Duchess duties already at hand, the feat is yet to be reached by Markle.
