Hardships are a difficult but not an impossible pill to swallow, and certainly not one that justifies unsolicited charity. And actor Mickey Rourke, despite the influx of hard times, practices this with vigour.

A GoFundMe with the author's name, Liya-Joelle Jones, surfaced seemingly as a consequence of Mickey Rourke's eviction notice. Rourke himself, however, was visibly upset about the effort.

"It is embarrassing," Rourke stated in a video. The actor took to Instagram, expressing his confusion and denying having approved any GoFundMe page as such.

"That’s not me, ok? If I needed money, I wouldn’t ask for charity," Rourke expressed. According to Deadline's conversation with Rourke's manager, Kimberly Hines, the page was a setup with the actor's best interests in mind.

Mickey Rourke's resilience, on the other hand, comes from a life lived with harder times than eviction.

Showbiz might seem like a ticket to a comfortable life, but it is not. After spending a childhood harrowed by an abusive stepfather, Mickey Rourke took to boxing, going on to win his first fight at the age of 12.

Despite the success in the sport, Rourke pivoted to acting with Deathwatch. His career, however, remained a juggle between acting and boxing, and internal turmoils, with Rourke's legacy eventually taking a nosedive.

No matter how distressing his situation may be, Rourke holds his values close. With the new year, the actor's resolution comes not in being charitable, but in denying charity when not needed.
