Apple TV+ has confirmed a Monarch: Legacy of Monsters prequel, dangling tantalizing specifics about the origins of its carefully buried bureaucracy. The series was embraced for intimate stakes after G-Day and the mirroring performances of Kurt Russell and Wyatt Russell. With season two secured, Monarch: Legacy of Monsters sweetened the deal by unveiling a prequel loaded with concrete production details.
Apple TV+ has officially greenlit a prequel spinoff series to Monarch: Legacy of Monsters. As of December 2025, the series remains untitled but focuses on the early career of Colonel Lee Shaw. This shift places the spotlight firmly on Monarch’s formative years.
That focus continues with Wyatt Russell reprising his role as the younger version of Lee Shaw. In addition to that, the series is set during the Cold War in 1984, a period defined by secrecy and escalating global tension, which directly shapes Monarch’s covert operations.
Within this setting, the story follows Shaw as an American operative on a secret mission behind enemy lines. He aims to prevent the Soviet Union from unleashing a massive new Titan capable of destroying the U.S. and shifting the balance of the Cold War.
Bringing this chapter to life, filming is expected to begin in Prague during the summer of 2026. Joby Harold serves as the showrunner and executive producer alongside Wyatt Russell, anchoring the project creatively and narratively, neatly aligning it with the timeline of the other MonsterVerse projects.
