Monkey D. Luffy Makes His Debut at One Piece: Grand Pirate Show at Universal Studios

Universal Studios Hollywood is going full pirate this spring, and One Piece fans have every reason to show up. A brand new live show is taking over one of the park's most iconic venues for a limited run this season. The Straw Hat Crew is bringing stunts, fire, and chaos, and this is only the beginning.
Universal Studios Hollywood is hosting One Piece: Grand Pirate Show, the first full-scale live stunt production of its kind in the US. The 20-minute spectacle runs at the WaterWorld venue as part of Universal Fan Fest Nights. It features Monkey D. Luffy, Roronoa Zoro, Nami, Usopp, Sanji, and Tony Tony Chopper.
The crew arrives on Midori Island aboard the Thousand Sunny, on a mission to secure rare Pop Greens, seeds with explosive battle properties. The Marines storm the island to seize them, turning the hunt into an all-out conflict. Just when things could not get more chaotic, fan-favorite rival Buggy the Clown crashes in, sending the action into full slapstick overdrive with massive water stunts and a daring escape finale.
The show runs on select nights from April 23 through May 16, 2026, starting at 7:00 PM as a separate after-hours ticketed event. Hungry pirates can head to Sanji's Galley and Hollywood and Dine, serving Luffy's Meat on the Bone, Sanji's Seafood Fried Rice, Franky's Loco Moco Burger, and desserts like the Luffy Straw Hat Mousse Dome and Chopper Cupcake.
While Hollywood gets its pirate festival, the One Piece universe beyond the park is gearing up for its biggest year yet.
One Piece eyes a massive 2026
The Elbaph Arc launched in the One Piece anime on April 5, 2026, with Toei Animation shifting to 26 high-quality episodes per year for better pacing. Netflix live-action Season 2 is already out, covering Loguetown through Drum Island. A WIT Studio remake is also in development for Netflix, revisiting the East Blue Saga with modern animation, with a full trailer expected at One Piece Day in 2026 (usually held in August, though sometimes teased in July).
A LEGO One Piece animated special drops September 29, 2026, while live-action Season 3 covering the Alabasta Saga is targeting 2027. On the manga front, Eiichiro Oda may bring the Straw Hats to Laugh Tale by the end of 2026. Card game fans get Illustration Boxes in July and a 3rd Anniversary Premium Supply Set this spring. It is, without question, the biggest year One Piece has ever had.
