Paramount Pictures has joined forces with the 2025 Fantasia International Film Festival award winner, Ian Tuason, for the next Paranormal Activity chapter, as per The Hollywood Reporter. Tuason had both premiered his first acclaimed film and won the best Canadian feature by the audience at the 29th Fantasia Film Festival.

Being at the receiving end of a fierce bidding war that ensued, Tuason's number had secured a deal with none other than A24 as a consequence. Emerging victorious via a mid-seven-figure deal, his thriller, Undertone, marked Tuason's bold leap into feature territory.

Ian Tuason, the Toronto-based writer-director, built acclaim through live-action virtual reality horror shorts. These innovative pieces amassed millions of YouTube views and earned a spotlight at SXSW.

His knack for immersive, tech-driven scares will now fuel Paranormal Activity towards a much-anticipated revival. Added to the franchise's trademark shaky-cam dread, Tuason's fresh vision will add to the reinvigoration, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The eighth Paranormal Activity installment will arrive as another low-budget powerhouse. With seven prior films having amassed over $890 million worldwide, its gritty, minimalist production takes most of the credit.

The first movie in the franchise had cost a humble $15,000 before DreamWorks Pictures. Under Paramount Pictures, it was glorified with a $200,000 worth of success, as well as an alternate ending.

Today, these movies revolving around ordinary families tormented by demonic entities rank among cinema's most profitable ventures. And all they do is blend raw fear with viral found-footage realism.

Paramount Pictures, Blumhouse, and Atomic Monster have now bet on Ian Tuason to summon Paranormal Activity's spectral spirits. This union signals bold evolution, blending digital savvy with the franchise's proven profitability.
