If expertise in online hostility earned medals, MrBeast would have a drawer full. The American YouTuber, famous for extravagant challenges and headline-grabbing philanthropy, has long endured anime fans branding him a fraudulent devotee, a charge he has answered publicly and without patience.

On January 7, 2026, JasonTheWeen and MrBeast hosted a one-hour Prime Video Twitch livestream. The special promoted Beast Games 2: Strong vs Smart. Together, they surprised smaller streamers reacting live, distributing fifty thousand dollars across multiple channels where MrBeast opened up about how toxic the One Piece fandom can be, not knowing he is a major fan too.

“The One Piece fanbase can be so toxic.” MrBeast said this while addressing criticism over changing his X profile picture to Monkey D. Luffy. He pushed back forcefully, claiming he had tweeted about anime long before many critics were active online.

He escalated the defense on the Twitch livestream by listing credentials. MrBeast stated he had watched over seven hundred episodes of Naruto, mocked anonymous anime profile pictures, and framed the harassment as gatekeeping rather than genuine critique, tying the hostility directly to fandom entitlement.

Calling MrBeast a fake anime fan only works if one ignores his years of very public enthusiasm.

Proof that MrBeast is a big anime fan

The allegation of performative anime fandom falters almost immediately as soon as cold, hard evidence is placed. MrBeast has spoken about Naruto since childhood, as seen from his tweet begging Netflix to fulfill his childhood dreams. The YouTuber also went so far as to recruit Junko Takeuchi, Naruto Uzumaki’s original voice actor, for professional collaboration.

This pattern repeats elsewhere. After completing Attack on Titan in 2025, he proclaimed it untouchable, provoking outrage precisely because the claim came from someone who actually reached the ending, not a sampler, and regularly endorses Death Note to beginners.

Even his admiration for One Piece arrived with receipts. Following a public challenge from IShowSpeed in December 2025, MrBeast started the series, cleared sixty episodes quickly, and adopted Monkey D. Luffy as his profile image, a move that announced commitment rather than cosplay.
