Beyoncé's genre-blend finally hit the mark left for her to become a billionaire. But the path she walked for it had been long, and, streamingly, Netflix played a part in making it smoother.
As per simple math, the billionaire threshold requires the crossing of a few hundred million. For Beyoncé, her Netflix deals paid off quite a chunk of it, $110 million to be exact, as per Forbes.
Beyoncé's 'Homecoming' headline at Coachella had not only drawn a legendary audience, but also a $60 million documentary deal titled Homecoming: A Film by Beyoncé in 2019. In 2024, the singer's NFL Christmas Gameday halftime live on Netflix earned her $50 million.
The Netflix deals go hand in hand with Beyoncé's knack for turning her musical acts into events, according to Forbes. Her self-titled fifth studio album in 2013, and her HBO-released visual album 'Lemonade' in 2016, all fall into the category.
Regardless of stepping stones, Beyoncé's status today stands defined by her musical, cultural, and historical pivots.
Beyoncé's billion-breaking musical pivot
Beyoncé had set off to cross the billion mark with her massive 'Renaissance' tour in 2023. With its second-of-a-trilogy successor, 'Cowboy Carter', she achieved what every artist of her stature deserves.
Released in 2024, 'Cowboy Carter' is the mark of American reinvention after 'Renaissance'. Her exploration of black roots in country music has earned her a long-awaited Grammy win as well, as of 2025.
'Cowboy Carter' is now Beyoncé's Best Country album, unique to black women, at the Grammys. Come 2026, there is an increased possibility of her billionaire status.
