Since signing a massive deal with Netflix in 2020, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have spent years building projects through their Archewell Productions banner. Their collaboration brought documentaries, series, and lifestyle content to the platform. But as Meghan Markle’s brand ambitions expand beyond streaming, the business relationship around it is shifting.

Netflix and Meghan Markle have officially ended their partnership connected to her lifestyle brand, As Ever. The brand, launched with the streamer’s backing, will now move forward independently.

“As Ever is grateful for Netflix’s partnership through launch and our first year. We have experienced meaningful and rapid growth, and As Ever is now ready to stand on its own. We have an exciting year ahead and cannot wait to share more,” a spokesperson told The Sun.

“As it was always intended, Meghan will continue growing the brand and take it into its next chapter independently, and we look forward to celebrating how she continues to bring joy to households around the world,” another spokesperson told PEOPLE.

As Ever was introduced alongside Meghan Markle’s lifestyle series With Love, Meghan, blending home entertaining with a retail brand selling jam, rosé wine, and flower sprinkles.

However, reports suggest Meghan Markle believed Netflix moved too cautiously when expanding the product range. Sources said the company was not structured to operate like a traditional retail shop, slowing the rollout of new items.

While the brand partnership ends, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry still maintain a creative relationship with Netflix through their production company.

Through Archewell Productions, the couple now operates under a first-look deal with Netflix. The arrangement allows the streamer to review project ideas first, but does not require it to finance every proposal. One active project is the documentary short Masaka Kids: A Rhythm Within, which follows orphaned children in Uganda.

Other projects are still in development, including film adaptations of Carley Fortune’s Meet Me at the Lake and Jasmine Guillory’s The Wedding Date.

Their earlier slate also featured the 2024 docuseries Polo and the hugely successful Harry & Meghan in 2022, showing that even as the lifestyle brand steps away, the red streamer and the royals still have several threads tightly tied.
