Keeping pace with the race of fictional characters with increasingly unhinged fantasies, Netflix has a new entrée. And Rachel Weisz is leading the race, as per new announcements.

Netflix has announced a new limited series brewing under its belt, Vladimir, to be released on March 5, 2026. According to Rachel Weisz herself, the series plays out as something with an amplified storybook sensibility.

"It’s like a heightened fairy tale," Weisz told Netflix Tudum. While she plays M, in the series, she also plays executive producer to this adaptation of Julia May Jonas' Vladimir: A Novel. Jonas, on the other hand, is also the creator of this book adaptation.

Exploring themes of desire and obsession, Vladimir also raises questions about the gender politics within academic institutions. Something that M observes from the sidelines as her husband gets involved in its perpetration. Leo Woodall, also seen in Netflix's One Day, will star as Vladimir himself, as per Netflix Tudum.

Through unconventional themes, however, Vladimir poses something else as the reality of Rachel Weisz's character.

What is Rachel Weisz's steamy Netflix series actually about?

The series, when unravelled by Rachel Weisz, turned out to be something deeper than M developing an uncontrollable crush on Vladimir. According to the actress, also the wife of Skyfall actor Daniel Craig, the series in fact explores feeling creative, inspired, and intellectually stimulated at a mature age.

"What it’s about is coming back to life in a certain way [after lying] dormant for some time," Weisz stated. She explained how M's infatuation with Valdimir not only makes her feel seen by his curiosity, but opens up her writer's imagination that had not been at work for almost fifteen years.

Rachel Weisz, hence, tackles yet another under-discussed topic through Netflix's upcoming limited series. With a month left for Vladimir to release, Weisz's elaborate explanation of the show leaves much to think about.
