Despite its trademark of comfortable viewing, Netflix is not giving itself the comfort of familiar strategies for the new year. Never one to leave its inventories dusty, the streaming giant is looking toward a new yearly layout.
Netflix released its fair share of K-Wave content in 2025, but not all of them managed to sustain interest. While releases like KPop Demon Hunters, Lost in Starlight, and Good News retained their buzz, others did not cut (The Great Flood, The Mantis, Love Untangled, Wall to Wall.)
For 2026, however, Netflix has carefully lined its 4 quarters with single-film releases, giving them breathing space to climb the charts properly. These include Pavane, Husbands in Action, Mission: Cross 2, and Possible Love, as per several outlets.
Pavane releases in the 1st quarter, scheduled for February 20, 2026. Husbands in Action, Mission: Cross 2, and Possible Love release in Q2, Q3, and Q4, respectively. The romance movie Possible Love is a working title and has been marked as Netflix's most high-profile Korean film for 2026.
What is at hand, however, is the first quarter film, fast approaching Netflix.
What is Netflix's Q1 release, Pavane about?
Netflix dropped an official teaser for Pavane on January 23, 2026. Claiming to encapsulate a coming-of-age romance, this Netflix original includes Ko A-sung, Byun Yo-han, and Moon Sang-min as its cast lineup.
Helmed by director Lee Jong-pil, the film will follow three youngsters who slowly become each other's driving forces. Centered around a store, these three part-timers have their worlds collide as they meet each other, while romance between Gyeong-rok and Mi-jung blooms, as seen in the teaser.
Netflix cleared up its slate for 2026, acknowledging the consequences of fast-paced, non-digestible releases. The streamer's new strategy now teeters at the edge of being either fruitful or less, for the year.
